Existing business districts.

Except as hereinafter provided, business districts that were designated prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly shall continue to operate and be governed by the terms of this Law in effect prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly. Any municipality which has designated a business district prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly may, by ordinance, amend or supplement any proceedings taken in connection with the designation of a business district as shall be necessary to provide that this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly shall apply to such business district.
