At an annual or special town meeting, a township board of trustees may by resolution authorize the donation of surplus public real estate to a not-for-profit corporation including, but not limited to, a historical society. The resolution may set forth the not-for-profit corporation's intended use of the property, and the board of trustees may require that the transfer be subject to a reversion of the property if the property is no longer used for its original intended use by the not-for-profit corporation. The resolution shall authorize the township supervisor to execute all documents necessary to complete the transfer of the property.
