Whenever there is a change in legal guardianship of a minor child who receives benefits under this Code, the appropriate State agency shall immediately inform the Department of Human Services of the change in legal guardianship to ensure such benefits are sent directly to the minor child's legal guardian. For purposes of this Section, "legal guardian" means a person appointed guardian, or given custody, of a minor by a circuit court of the State, but does not include a person appointed guardian, or given custody, of a minor under the Juvenile Court Act or the Juvenile Court Act of 1987.
