Report on centralizing administrative functions.

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, with the cooperation of the Department of Human Services, shall provide a report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2012, regarding the feasibility and potential consequences of centralizing administrative functions, to the extent allowable under federal law, for applicants applying only for medical assistance. The report shall include, but need not be limited to, an analysis of centralizing administrative functions in a statewide or regional centers administered by either public or private entities, and an analysis of the impact of removing medical assistance only cases from the caseload assigned to employees in local Department of Human Services field offices that accept and process applications for benefits.
