(a) There is created the Violence Prevention Task Force (hereinafter referred to as the Task Force) consisting of 6 members appointed as follows: (1) one member of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate; (2) one member of the Senate appointed by the Minority Leader of the Senate; (3) one member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; (4) one member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; and (5) 2 members appointed by the Governor, one of whom shall be designated the chairperson by the Governor. (b) The members of the Task Force shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed for their reasonable and necessary expenses from funds appropriated for that purpose. (c) The Task Force may employ skilled experts with the approval of the chairperson, and shall receive the cooperation of those State agencies it deems appropriate to assist the Task Force in carrying out its duties. (d) The Illinois African-American Family Commission, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Illinois Latino Family Commission shall provide administrative and other support to the Task Force. President of the Senate; Minority Leader of the Senate; appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; appointed by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; and shall be designated the chairperson by the Governor.
