person from being represented by privately retained counsel or from waiving his right to an attorney in proceedings under the "Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code", approved by the Eightieth General Assembly, as now or hereafter amended, or as otherwise provided by law. If a Legal Advocacy Service attorney has been appointed by a court and the eligible person secures his own counsel, the court shall discharge the Legal Advocacy Service attorney.
