As used in this chapter: (1) "Rangelands" means land on which the native vegetation is predominately grasses, grass-like plants, forbs, or shrubs, including lands revegetated naturally or artificially when routine management of that vegetation is accomplished mainly through manipulation of grazing. Rangelands include natural grasslands, savannas, shrublands, most deserts, tundra, alpine communities, coastal marshes and wet meadows. (2) "Private rangelands" means rangelands not owned by the federal government, state government, an Indian tribe or a political subdivision of the state.
