Payment of claims

§268-14 Payment of claims. The department of transportation may upon such terms and conditions as it may impose and under such rules and regulations as it may adopt, pay claims arising under its operation of ferries or terminals or compromise or settle the claims. No claim shall be paid by the department or any settlement or compromise thereof be made except from its operating revenues derived from its operation of ferries or terminals or from the proceeds of insurance recoveries.
