(a) No person may administer blood by transfusion in this state or transfer or offer to transfer blood for transfusion purposes by any type of transaction unless the container of such blood is labeled as required by Code Section 31-24-4 . (b) When blood is administered by transfusion in this state, the identification number of the unit of blood shall be recorded in the patient's medical record, and the label on the container of such blood may not be removed before or during the administration of that blood by transfusion.
