Application of law regulating contracting and contractors

(1)(a) This chapter applies to any contractor performing work for the state or any county or municipality, as well as to contractors performing work pursuant to private contracts or agreements. Officers of the state or any county or municipality are required to determine compliance with this chapter before awarding any contracts for construction, improvement, remodeling, or repair. (b) The state or any county or municipality may require that bids submitted for construction, improvement, remodeling, or repair of public buildings be accompanied by evidence that the bidder holds a current certificate. (2) The provisions of this chapter relating to certification and contracting as a fire protection systems contractor shall apply to those so engaged in the business of contracting for fire protection systems.
