(1) The director of the Division of Food Safety shall be appointed by the commissioner to serve at the commissioner’s pleasure. (2) The director shall supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of the division and enforce the provisions of chapters 500, 501, 502, 531, 583, 585, 597, and 601 and any other chapter necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the division.
