(1) There is created in the Department of Business and Professional Regulation the Board of Professional Geologists. The board shall consist of seven members, five of whom shall be professional geologists, and two of whom shall be laypersons who are not and have never been geologists or members of any closely related profession or occupation. The chief of the Bureau of Geology in the Department of Environmental Protection, or his or her designee, shall serve as an ex officio member of the board. Members shall be appointed for 4-year terms. (2) All provisions of chapter 455 relating to activities of the board shall apply.
