The district created pursuant to this act may be abolished by a majority vote of the qualified electors of the district at an election called by the trustees of the district for such purpose, which election shall be held and notice thereof given under the same requirements as are set forth for the creation of the district. The district may not be abolished while it has outstanding indebtedness unless adequate provision is made for the liquidation of such outstanding indebtedness.
