Unlawful purchase of lottery tickets; penalty

(1) No person who is less than 18 years of age may purchase a lottery ticket; however, this shall not prohibit the purchase of a lottery ticket for the purpose of making a gift to a minor. (2) No officer or employee of the department or any relative living in the same household with such officer or employee may purchase a lottery ticket. (3) No officer or employee of any vendor under contract with the department for a major procurement, relative living in the same household with such officer or employee, or immediate supervisor of such officer or employee may purchase a lottery ticket if the officer or employee is involved in the direct provision of goods or services to the department or has access to information made confidential by the department. (4) Any person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
