incapacitated, or in need of protective services. This chapter may not be construed to mean any of the following: (1) An adult is abused, mistreated, neglected, impaired, incapacitated, or in need of protective services for the sole reason the adult relies upon, or is being furnished with, treatment by spiritual means through prayer alone in accordance with the tenets and practices of a recognized church or religious denomination. (2) To authorize or require medical care or treatment over the implied or express objections of the adult.
