(a) No attorney-at-law admitted to practice within this state or any person affiliated with such attorney may receive a fee, commission or other form of referral fee for the referral of any person to (1) a real estate broker or real estate salesperson, as defined in section 20-311 , or any person affiliated with such broker or salesperson or any person engaged in the real estate business, as defined in said section 20-311 , or (2) any mortgage broker or mortgage lender, as defined in subdivision (5) of section 49-31d , or any person affiliated with such mortgage broker or lender. (b) Any person who violates the provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall be subject to the penalties set forth in subsection (b) of section 51-87 .
