(a) A court may adjudicate a person's parentage of a child only if the court has personal jurisdiction over that person. (b) A court of this state with jurisdiction to adjudicate parentage may exercise personal jurisdiction over a nonresident person, or the guardian or conservator of the person consistent with the laws of this state.
