Election returns

(1) In the case of any election held under this article that
is not held concurrently with a primary or general election, the election officials shall make their
returns directly to the secretary of the district for the board.
(2) In the case of an election held under this article that is consolidated with any primary
or general election, the returns shall be made and canvassed at the time and in the manner
provided by law for the canvass of the returns of such primary or general election. The
canvassing body shall certify promptly and shall transmit to the secretary of the district for the
board a statement of the result of the vote upon any proposition submitted under this article.
(3) Upon receipt by the board of election returns from election officials or upon receipt
of such certificate from each such canvassing body, the board shall tabulate and declare the
results of the election at any regular or special meeting held not earlier than five days following
the date of the election.
(4) The board shall cause the results of the election to be published at least one time in at
least one newspaper having general circulation in the district.
