Responsibilities of the council

(1) The council has the following
responsibilities:
(a) To establish procedures for the conduct of council business;
(b) To review the inventory and to approve the registry;
(c) To review and make recommendations on the commission's criteria for and selection
of natural areas to be included in the registry and the system; except that no area shall be
included in the registry without permission of the owner of the land;
(d) To advise the commission of the promulgation of rules for the registry and for the
designation, management, protection, and use of designated natural areas;
(e) To seek and recommend the designation of natural areas by the board as part of the
system, as provided in section 33-33-108;
(f) To review and make recommendations regarding scientific research, educational use,
interpretive programs, and public information pertaining to designated natural areas;
(g) To review and make recommendations regarding the negotiation and enforcement of
the articles of a designated natural area;
(h) To advise the commission on the disbursement of funds for the purposes of this
article; and
(i) To review and make recommendations on commission reports made to the governor
on the status of the program.
