Compensation of directors

(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection
(2) of this section, effective January 1, 1983, each director shall receive a sum of three thousand
dollars per annum.
(2) Effective January 1, 2009, each director elected at the 2008 general election or at any
general election thereafter and each director appointed to fill a vacancy for an unexpired term of
a director elected at the 2008 general election or any election thereafter shall receive a sum of
twelve thousand dollars per annum, payable at the rate of one thousand dollars per month.
(3) No director shall receive any compensation as an officer, engineer, attorney,
employee, or any other agent of the district.
(4) Nothing contained in this article shall be construed as preventing the board from
authorizing the reimbursement of any director for expenses incurred that appertain to the
activities of the district.
