Mayor - powers and duties

The mayor shall be the presiding officer of the
city council and shall have the same voting powers as any member of said council. The mayor
shall be considered a member of the governing body and the city council and shall be recognized
as the head of the city government for all ceremonial purposes, by the courts for serving civil
processes, and by the government for purposes of military law. In addition, the mayor shall
exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as are conferred and imposed upon
him by this part 2 or the ordinances of the city.
