City clerk - duties - city seal

(1) The city clerk shall have the custody of all
the laws and ordinances of the city council, shall keep a regular record of the proceedings of the
city council, in such form as determined by the council, and shall perform such other duties as
may be required by statute or by the ordinances of the city. The clerk shall continue in office
until a successor is appointed or elected and has complied with section 31-4-401.
(2) Each city council shall provide for the clerk's office a seal, which shall be the seal of
the city, in the center of which shall be the word "Seal" and such other device as may be directed
by ordinance and around the margin the name of the city and the state. Said seal shall be affixed
to all transcripts, orders, or certificates which may be necessary or proper to authenticate under
law or any ordinance of the city. For all attested certificates and transcripts other than those
ordered by the city council, the same fees shall be paid to the clerk as are allowed to county
officers for similar services.
