Colorado Code § 25-4-604

Animal attacking or biting person to be confined - examination. The

health department or health officer shall serve notice upon the owner of a dog, cat, other pet
animal, or other mammal which has attacked or bitten a person to confine the animal at the
expense of the owner upon his premises or at a pound or other place designated in the notice for
a period designated by the department of public health and environment. The health department,
health officer, or his representative shall be permitted by the owner of such dog, cat, other pet
animal, or other mammal to examine the animal at any time within the period of confinement to
determine whether such animal shows symptoms of rabies. No person shall obstruct or interfere
with the authorized person in making such examination.
