The
state agency consists of a director, who is the executive officer of the state agency, and the
deputies, assistants, and employees as in the opinion of the director and the governor are
necessary to carry out the provisions of this part 4. The director is the director of the division of
correctional industries. All deputies, assistants, and employees are appointed by the director
pursuant to section 13 of article XII of the state constitution and receive such compensation and
reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of their duties as other employees of the
state government are paid. All employees of the state agency on July 1, 1987, remain employees
of the agency without the need for further appointment due to the transfer of the state agency
from the department of personnel. The employees of the state agency must not exceed ten
employees. The state agency is a type 2 entity, as defined in section 24-1-105.
