Society and division - duties - repeal

(1) The state historical society shall
continue as an educational institution of the state, considered as a division of the department of
higher education for the purpose of determining the order of its appropriation; except that:
(a) (Deleted by amendment, L. 96, p. 1531, § 93, effective June 1, 1996.)
(b) The executive director of the department of personnel shall consult with the state
historical society with respect to the proposed destruction under part 1 of this article of any
documentary, library, or museum materials, whether or not defined in section 24-80-101 as
records, and shall not consent to the destruction of any such materials determined by the state
historical society to be of historical value; and
(c) The installation of any museum display or exhibition of historical materials in the
department of personnel shall be with the guidance and counsel of the state historical society.
(2) (a) Subject to available money, the state historical society shall conduct historical
research as described in part 23 of article 2 of title 2.
(b) This subsection (2) is repealed, effective July 1, 2025; except that, if the revisor of
statutes receives notice pursuant to section 2-2-2309 (1), then this subsection (2) is repealed,
effective four years after the date of the notice to the revisor of statutes.
