Colorado Code § 24-60-2204

Definitions

As used in sections 24-60-2205 to 24-60-2212, unless the
context otherwise requires:
(1) "Department" means the department of public health and environment.
(2) "Facility" means a low-level radioactive waste facility capable of serving as a
regional disposal or management site for low-level radioactive waste and which complies with
the provisions of the "Rocky Mountain Low-level Radioactive Waste Compact" set forth in
section 24-60-2202.
(3) "Low-level radioactive waste" means radioactive waste, other than:
(a) Waste generated as a result of defense activities of the federal government or federal
research and development activities;
(b) High-level waste such as irradiated reactor fuel, liquid waste from reprocessing
irradiated reactor fuel, or solids into which any such liquid waste has been converted;
(c) Waste material containing transuranic elements with contamination levels greater
than ten nanocuries per gram of waste material;
(d) Byproduct material as defined in Section 11 e. (2) of the "Atomic Energy Act of
1954", as amended on November 8, 1978; or
(e) Wastes from mining, milling, smelting, or similar processing of ores and mineral-
bearing material primarily for minerals other than radium.
