Colorado Code § 24-1-113

(1) There is hereby created a department of
law, the head of which shall be the attorney general.
(2) Except as otherwise provided in this article 1 or by law:
(a) The department of law, created in article 31 of this title 24, is a type 2 entity, as
defined in section 24-1-105, and exercises its powers and performs its duties and functions as
specified by law and subject to the state constitution.
(b) The office of the attorney general is a type 2 entity, as defined in section 24-1-105,
and exercises its powers and performs its duties and functions as vested in the office of the
attorney general by law or the state constitution.
(3) and (4) Repealed.
