Compilation of data related to inmates with children attending school

(1) The department of corrections shall obtain information from each inmate concerning
whether the inmate is the parent of a child who is under the age of eighteen in the state of
Colorado and, if so, whether the child is enrolled in a school in the state and the school district or
state charter school in which the child is enrolled. In the process of obtaining the information
from the inmate, the department shall not provide the inmate with information that would pose a
safety threat to the child or child's family.
(2) The department shall collect and compile information related to programs that assist
students whose parents are incarcerated.
