Limitations on authority

(1) Nothing in this part 2 authorizes a physical
therapist assistant to perform any of the following acts:
(a) Practice of medicine, surgery, or any other form of healing except as authorized by
this part 2; or
(b) Use of roentgen rays and radioactive materials for therapeutic purposes, use of
electricity for surgical purposes, or diagnosis of disease.
(2) A physical therapist assistant shall not practice physical therapy unless the assistant
works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
(3) A physical therapist assistant:
(a) Shall not perform sharp wound debridement;
(b) May perform general wound care and nonsharp debridement, including mechanical,
autolytic, enzymatic, and maggot, under the supervision of a physical therapist when
debridement is consistent with the scope of physical therapy practice.
