(1) It is unlawful for any person to practice dentistry, dental therapy, or dental hygiene in this state except those: (a) Who are duly licensed as dentists, dental therapists, or dental hygienists pursuant to this article 220; (b) Who are designated by this article 220 as dental assistants, but only to the extent of the procedures authorized by this article 220 and the rules adopted by the board.
