The sheriff or probation officer, whichever is designated by the court, may execute the order of commitment with respect to a person with an intellectual disability. In a case in which the probation officer executes the order of commitment, he or she shall be compensated for transporting the person to a state hospital in the amount and manner that a sheriff is compensated for similar services.
