No convulsive treatment shall be performed if the patient, whether admitted to the facility as a voluntary or involuntary patient, is deemed to be able to give informed consent and refuses to do so. The physician shall indicate in the treatment record that the treatment was refused despite the physicianâs advice and that he has explained to the patient the patientâs responsibility for any untoward consequences of his refusal.
