The director shall investigate, examine, and make reports upon adult and juvenile probation. The director may establish standards for the performance of probation duties, and upon request consult with and make investigations and recommendations to probation officers, probation committees, juvenile justice commissions, and to judges of the superior courts, including such judges as are designated juvenile court judges of any county. The director may also, upon request, consult with, make investigations for, and recommendations to probation officers, probation committees, juvenile justice commissions, and to judges of the superior courts, including such judges as are designated juvenile court judges of any county, to aid them in the operation and maintenance of their juvenile halls.
