Whenever a court suspends the privilege of a person to operate a motor vehicle, the court shall require the personâs license to be surrendered to it. Unless required by the provisions of Section 13550 to send the license to the department, the court shall retain the license during the period of suspension and return it to the licensee at the end of the period after indorsing thereon a record of the suspension.
