When in the opinion of the department it would be in the interest of safety, the department may issue, in individual cases, to any applicant for a driverâs license, a license limited in duration to less than the regular term. Upon the expiration of a limited term license the department may extend its duration for an additional period without fee but the duration of the license and extensions shall not exceed the term of a regular license.
