The state highway system shall consist of the routes described in this article. It is the intent of the Legislature, in enacting this article, that the routes of the state highway system serve the stateâs heavily traveled rural and urban corridors, that they connect the communities and regions of the state, and that they serve the stateâs economy by connecting centers of commerce, industry, agriculture, mineral wealth, and recreation.
