For purposes of this article: (a) âBridgeâ includes a publicly owned pedestrian bridge and a publicly owned rail transit bridge. (b) âRetrofitâ includes both the structural modification of an existing bridge and the replacement of an existing bridge by a newly constructed bridge meeting seismic safety requirements.
