(a) For purposes of this chapter, all of the following definitions apply: (1) âDeenergization eventâ means the proactive interruption of electrical service for the purpose of mitigating or avoiding the risk of causing a wildfire. (2) âElectrical cooperativeâ has the same meaning as defined in Section 2776. (3) âElectrical corporationâ has the same meaning as defined in Section 218. (4) âLarge electrical corporationâ has the same meaning as defined in Section 3280. (5) âLocal publicly owned electric utilityâ has the same meaning as defined in Section 224.3. (6) âOfficeâ means the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety, within the Natural Resources Agency. (b) Beginning July 1, 2021, the office shall supervise an electrical corporationâs compliance with the requirements of this chapter pursuant to the Public Utilities Act (Part 1 (commencing with Section 201) of Division 1). This chapter does not affect the commissionâs authority or jurisdiction over an electrical corporation, electrical cooperative, or local publicly owned electric utility.
