(a) The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority shall appoint an inspector general to a term of office of four years. The inspector general shall be removed from office only if either or both of the following occur: (1) A two-thirds majority of the members of the authority votes for removal. (2) The inspector general violates a federal or state law or regulation, a local ordinance, or a policy or practice of the authority, relative to ethical practices, including, but not limited to, the acceptance of gifts or contributions. (b) The inspector general shall, at a noticed public hearing of the authority, report quarterly on the expenditures of the authority for travel, meals and refreshments, private club dues, membership fees and other charges, and any other expenditures which are specified by the authority. (c) Any investigatory file compiled by the inspector general is an investigatory file compiled by a local law enforcement agency subject to disclosure pursuant to Article 1 (commencing with Section 7923.600) of Chapter 1 of Part 5 of Division 10 of Title 1 of the Government Code.
