(a) Violation of an ordinance, rule, or regulation adopted pursuant to this article is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment, unless the board provides that a violation of an ordinance, rule, or regulation is an infraction, that is punishable by: (1) A fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100) for a first violation. (2) A fine not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200) for a second violation of the same ordinance, rule, or regulation within one year. (3) A fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500) for each additional violation of the same ordinance, rule, or regulation within one year. (b) A superior court of a county lying wholly or in part within the district is a proper court for trial of all prosecutions under this article for violations of an ordinance, rule, or regulation adopted by the board.
