(a) The Department of Parks and Recreation shall, after consultation with appropriate Native American groups, receive and accept a donation of Indian artifacts found in the vicinity of the Los Encinos State Historic Park. The donation shall consist of a representative sample of artifacts determined by the department to be of historic or cultural interest to the residents of the San Fernando Valley. (b) The department shall, after consultation with appropriate Native American groups, house and display the donated artifacts at the Los Encinos State Historic Park. (c) Artifacts not received and accepted pursuant to subdivision (a) may be donated to colleges, universities, museums, appropriate Native American groups, or nonprofit organizations in California.
