The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall meet with representatives of cities or, if the prison is located in an unincorporated location, counties, whenever the Legislature authorizes the planning, design, or construction of new permanent housing units. The meeting shall take place prior to the completion of the review required by Division 13 (commencing with Section 21000) of the Public Resources Code. The department shall describe the scope of the project and the project schedule, and shall consider comments from the city or county representatives regarding the projectâs impact.
