The Secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has full power to order returned to custody any person under the secretaryâs jurisdiction. The written order of the secretary shall be sufficient warrant for any peace officer to return to actual custody any escaped state prisoner or any state prisoner released prior to his or her scheduled release date who should be returned to custody. All peace officers shall execute an order as otherwise provided by law.
