The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall require a research component for any sex offender treatment contract funded by the department. The research component shall enable the departmentâs research unit or an independent contractor to evaluate the effectiveness of each contract on reducing the rate of recidivism of the participants in the program funded by a contract. The research findings shall be compiled annually in a report due to the Legislature January 10 of each year.
