(a) The cost of inpatient or outpatient treatment under Section 2962 or 2972 shall be a state expense while the person is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation or the State Department of State Hospitals. (b) Any person placed outside of a facility of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the purposes of inpatient treatment under this article shall not be deemed to be released from imprisonment or from the custody of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation prior to the expiration of the maximum term of imprisonment of the person.
