(a) The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall, until July 1, 2021, provide 520 hours of training to each correctional peace officer cadet. The department shall provide a minimum of 480 hours of training to each correctional peace officer cadet who commences training on or after July 1, 2021. This training shall be completed by the cadet prior to their assignment to a post or position as a correctional peace officer. (b) The CPOST shall determine the on-the-job training requirements for correctional peace officers. (c) Training standards previously established pursuant to this section shall remain in effect until training requirements are established by the CPOST pursuant to Section 13602.
