The board may provide, by resolution, that the health officer of the county in which the district is situated shall be the health officer of the district. Upon the adoption of such resolution, it shall be presented to the board of supervisors and, if it is approved by the board of supervisors, such county health officer shall become the ex officio health officer of the district and it shall be his duty to give advice when requested by the board and to aid the district in doing any act necessary or proper to the complete exercise and effect of any of its powers, or for the purposes for which it is formed.
