(a) (1) Item 2240-102-0890 of the Budget Act of 2020, appropriated to the Department of Housing and Community Development, is hereby augmented by appropriating the sum of one billion five hundred million dollars ($1,500,000,000) from the Federal Trust Fund for the purposes of implementing the state rental assistance program provided under this chapter. (2) The amount appropriated in paragraph (1) may be adjusted in accordance with additional funding the state receives for the rental assistance program in accordance with paragraphs (3) and (4) of subdivision (b) of Section 50897.3. (b) The department may expend up to 10 percent of the funds appropriated pursuant to this section for the costs of administering the state rental assistance program in accordance with this chapter.
