(a) Beginning July 1, 2008, the smog abatement fee described in subparagraph (A) or (C) of paragraph (1) of subdivision (d) of Section 44060 shall be increased by eight dollars ($8). (b) Revenues generated by the increase described in this section shall be distributed as follows: (1) The revenues generated by four dollars ($4) shall be deposited in the Air Quality Improvement Fund created by Section 44274.5. (2) The revenues generated by four dollars ($4) shall be deposited in the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Fund created by Section 44273. (c) This section shall become inoperative on July 1, 2035, and, as of January 1, 2036, is repealed.
