For purposes of this chapter: (a) “AIDS” means acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. (b) “Disclosed” means to disclose, release, transfer, disseminate, or otherwise communicate all or any part of any confidential research record orally, in writing, or by electronic means to any person or entity, or to provide the means for obtaining the records. (c) “Confidential research record or records” means any data or information in a personally identifying form, including name, social security number, address, employer, or other information that could, directly or indirectly, in part or in sum, lead to the identification of the individual research subject, developed or acquired by any person in the course of conducting research or a research study relating to HIV or AIDS. (d) “HIV” means human immunodeficiency virus.
